LEAGUE HISTORY
CONTACT Ever wonder how our league was started? Here's a brief timeline of the BCPWFL's history through the years.

1958 - Ike is president, the Red Menace is upon us, Elvis is king, and pee wee football is born in Northern Kentucky. The first teams play in Kenton County.

1964 - The Beatles are in, Elvis is out (sort of), and it's LBJ all the way. Cliff Broadus leads the first Boone County pee wee team the Cavaliers.

1968 - It's Flower Power and Laugh-in. At Coney Island, Cliff Broadus and Gene Weaver sort through over 600 registration cards spread out on a picnic table for the upcoming season. It's obvious that interest in pee wee football for the region is at an all-time high.
1969 - Neil Armstrong walks on the moon, Tricky Dick is in the White House, and on December 1st, Bill and Mary Haines, M.G. Weaver, Kenneth Parman, Cliff Broadus, and Ken Stuemple sit down around Mary's kitchen table and form what we are now proud to call the Boone County Pee Wee Football League.

First game of '73 season 1973 - Watergate is in full swing as the season gets underway. At right, Cliff Broadus, Jerry Keenan, Bob Fogel, and Ken Stuempel appear in a jovial mood to kick off the season. And what a jovial and proud moment it is when we learn of exciting news. The Boone County Recorder publishes an article in August of that year declaring that the BCPWFL is the largest independent (free from any sponsorship) pee wee football program in the state of Kentucky.
Late1970's - With Al Diguilo as league president, land is purchased from the Rayburn family and the first permanent field for the league is constructed. Later, the field is named Stehlin Field, after Short Stehlin, a small-framed, older man who invariably collected the gate money...rain or shine.

Flagpole memorial plaque 1983 - A memorial plaque and flagpole is erected in honor of two of the league's most ardent supporters Mary and Bill Haines. A photo of the plaque is seen at right. It goes without saying that the dedication and commitment the Haines showed through the years made our league what it is today.

2000 - It's Brittany Spears, N-Sync, and a new millennium as our league officially begins its 31st year. Robert Napier is honored for his long years of service to the league when the new equipment building is dedicated and named in his honor.
